The Hit Air VHR all-in-one airbag vest can be used on horseback or motorcycle (with correct coiled wire). The VHR has a simple structure and delivers great results. This vest is designed to be worn OVER your riding apparel. A fast 0.09 deployment time will inflate the neck airbag first and then the rest.

High Quality. Sizing is odd

First of all this is a high quality product. The cordura, buckles and straps all have a very heavy duty feel. Craftsmanship is excellent and you hardly notice you’re wearing it on the bike. Since I ride in both Florida and the mountains of NE Georgia it is important that I get airflow through the vest and not act like winter vest over my other gear. The VHR delivers on this. The only caution I would have is that the sizing of the 2 strap buckles that secure the vest to the rider seem a bit out of proportion. I am 5’5” tall, weigh 135lbs with a 34” chest and a 31” waist. I find that the chest is a bit loose (there is no adjustment here) and the waist strap even extended to its most open position is a bit tight. The size I bought was the small to large. I am using it over a typical sport touring jacket and an adventure touring jacket as well. It’s not bad enough that I want to return it because if I go larger I’m afraid the chest strap would be useless. I would say if your waist is more than 31 or 32 don’t even think about the small to large size. I gave it 4 stars because of the weird sizing, otherwise would have been 5.

I was in a 40 mph with the earlier model vest and it performed beautifully - no upper body injury at all. Bought the updated model and like it even more - more streamlined fit, curved better at the neck - just more comfortable to wear. I also like the idea of reflection at night. All good upgrades, not to mention faster deploy (haven't tested - hopefully won't)

I was in a 40 mph pavement crash w MCV (prior model) and it performed flawlessly. Top side crash landed on helmet, rolled over/across 3 lanes - no head/neck/chest/spine injury or pain at all. Some tailbone pain but no fracture. Came away with non displaced knee/fibula fractures and consider myself dang fortunate. I sincerely believe the vest (and my helmet) saved the day. Bought the updated vest this year- deploys faster (so they say - luckily I havent "tested" that) - the fit is much more stream-lined and nearly invisible over my black jacket(s). The cut is a little more tapered at the neck/chest so it hugs the body a bit better. All in all - good improvements. On a side note - my insurance company reimbursed me for the cost of the vest in the crash - so in the end - free to me and I truly feel it saved me from significant injury.

This vest is very light weight, the CO2 canister is the majority of the weight.
Because the deflated bag folds in at the top and bottom of the vest, and pops out upon deployment, this vest has a smaller foot print than the primary competitor's vest.
I wear the vest over my riding jacket (I have different jackets based on temperature), and I don't use any of the optional armor available to use with the vest.
I live in Georgia, so having an option that was going to be the least effect on heat dissipation was a major consideration for me.
The claimed deployment time is much faster on this vest, than on other vests made by Hit-Air. It deploys in less than half the time of the other vests. This can be a significant factor when traveling at road/track speed, particularly in a low side.
I've not had a need for deployment, so I can't comment on performance in different types of accidents.
In looking at the components of the vest, in particular the trigger box, it exceeds what I expected. Again, I've not had an actual deployment.
If you install the leash correctly on the bike, you can still stand on the pegs without deploying the bag. So you do need to come off the bike a good 4 to 6 inches or so for the bag to deploy.
In the week I've been using it, I almost always forget to unclip before I get off the bike, and that does *NOT* cause a deployment.
The main thing is to remember to CLIP IN every time you get on the bike. I still have to be a little conscious of that, and in my eagerness to get riding, I've forgotten to clip in a couple times. I'm thinking it will become automatic behavior like fastening my seatbelt.
